Dunfermline Athletic have appointed Neil Lennon as their new manager. Lennon, former Celtic and Hibernian boss, joins the club on an initial deal until the end of the season.
What happened?
Dunfermline sacked Michael Tidser on Monday after just two months in charge. The Pars are second-bottom of the Scottish Championship table, six points clear of automatic relegation but one point behind Hamilton Accies.
Why it matters for Dunfermline
Lennon's appointment is a significant move for Dunfermline, who are fighting to avoid the relegation play-offs. With seven games to go, Lennon will be joined by coach Iain Brunskill, who had spells at Liverpool's academy, Norwich, Blackpool, QPR, and most recently at Rapid Bucuresti as Lennon's assistant.
What comes next?
Lennon's first match in charge of Dunfermline will be against promotion-chasing Ayr United, who are managed by his former Celtic captain Scott Brown. Dunfermline chairman and chief executive David Cook said: "We very quickly identified Neil as the outstanding candidate for the role. Having managed at the very highest level in the country, he will bring a huge wealth of experience to the club."
