Dunfermline Athletic surged into the Scottish Championship's top four with a commanding 5-1 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at East End Park. The win marks a third consecutive league success for Neil Lennon's side, who now sit fourth with 21 points from 12 matches, having recorded five wins, six draws and one loss this season.

Alfie Bavidge gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot in the 13th minute after Layton Stewart was fouled. Dunfermline's response after the interval was emphatic. Olamilekan Adams equalised just two minutes into the second half, heading home his first league goal of the season. Oli Shaw then put the Pars ahead either side of the hour mark, also with a header for his maiden league strike this term.

Goals spark breakthrough

The floodgates opened as Dunfermline's aerial dominance told. Nurudeen Abdulai made it 4-1 with another header in the 68th minute, before Kian Corbally completed the rout 10 minutes later, nodding in the team's fifth and his own first league goal of the campaign. Manager Neil Lennon said the performance was a breakthrough. "We’ve been waiting on the dam bursting in terms of goals, and to score four headers is exceptionally good," Lennon told reporters.

The result extends Dunfermline's unbeaten run to eight games, with a recent form of three wins and two draws from their last five outings. They are now just four points behind league leaders Partick Thistle. This latest victory follows a 1-0 win at Stenhousemuir on Tuesday 27 October, secured by a 76th-minute goal from R. MacLeod, and a 1-0 win at Queen's Park on Saturday 24 October. The team's overall defensive record remains strong, with just six goals conceded against ten scored this season.

Inverness falter after strong run

For Inverness, managed by Scott Kellacher, the heavy defeat ended a nine-match unbeaten streak across all competitions and saw them slip to sixth in the table. They now trail Dunfermline by five points and are four points adrift of the top four.

Dunfermline's next challenge is a trip to face third-placed Raith Rovers on Friday, November 6. The fixture list shows a key clash in the race for promotion, with the Pars looking to build on their current momentum. The team will travel to Stark's Park aiming to extend their winning run to four games. Despite the team's impressive form, their top scorer this season is T. Oakley-Boothe, who has yet to find the net in 22 appearances.
